There is a vacancy for a Primary School Representative on the council’s Young People and Education Improvement Committee (formally known as the Education Scrutiny Committee).
The committee’s role is to subject to scrutiny the education policies of the Council and Education Bradford.
The committee also has a Secondary Schools Representative and a Special Schools Representative. The other committee members are local councillors and representatives from stake holders such as school governors, the churches, and the Bradford and Keighley Youth Parliament.
The committee usually meets every two weeks, from 4.30 to approximately 6.30 or 7, in City Hall. (A buffet tea is provided). The meetings are open to the public.
It is an interesting role, providing both the opportunity to represent the interests of teachers in the council’s decision-making process, and an insight into the thinking behind education policy making. (And the teas are good!)
